When I first began applying to colleges during senior year, I thought it was the most difficult thing I would have to do. Once I got in, the stress would be over and I could enjoy the transition into becoming a college student. This mentality remained all throughout the end of high school and the summer before college began; then my tuition bill arrived.
I had been warned of the astronomical costs associated with my future scholastic endeavors. Yet, for some reason, reality did not hit until two weeks prior to the deadline, two weeks before I had to come up with $20,326.
At the time, luck came my way and provided me with a few scholarships and a very close friend - together paying off my bill. Luck like that, I thought, is certainly not going to pay off the remaining $145,000+ that I would owe the coming semesters. I needed to take control and figure out this financial aid thing.
My intention with Mission Tuition is to provide some of the best information on being a fiscally responsible student so you do not have to go broke paying for classes, books and other collegiate expenses. I hope to cover topics such as applying for financial aid and scholarships, earning money in college, earning even more money in college, saving and investing money in college, tips on reducing some of your expenses in college and any other money matters students and parents might be concerned with.
I encourage you to contact me with any questions, corrections or concerns at anytime.
