Jobster, a career network for employees and employers, has a Facebook application that allows you to both search for a job via their Talent Networks as well as turn your Facebook profile into an online resume. The Talent Networks are companies that you are interested in applying to work for. After joining the Talent Network, you will be notified of job openings, career events and other company news. You will also have an opportunity to meet those who currently work for the company.
Of all the job sites online, Jobster is one of the cleanest and more relevant of the bunch. HotJobs and Monster seem too big for their own good - I have heard quite a few stories where users’ resumes seem to get lost in the crowd. One of the benefits of using the Jobster Facebook application is that you can connect directly with those who are your potential employers.
A word to the wise and a little tip for those avid Facebook users - as much as we all love flipping through your photo albums, especially “Saturday Night with the Girls” and “Delta Delta Delta ‘Ping-Pong’ Championship”, remember that you are looking for a job and your profile will be seen by your prospective employers. They might not be quite as fond of your collection.
Thanks to Christiana Anderson from Jobster, who clarified my above mistaken assumption:
One thing is important to clarify, your Facebook profile will NOT be seen by employers. Instead, when you sign up for Jobster Talent Networks, only the information you choose will be provided to the employers you choose.
The information you want to share with employers is sent directly to the recruiter. Recruiters do not see your Facebook profile. This way the “Saturday Night with the Girls†and “Delta Delta Delta ‘Ping-Pong’ Championship†pix are safe.
If you do want to create a professional profile that you want employers to see, you can do that within the Jobster on Facebook application here and create an online resume. You can also go directly to Jobster and create a professional profile.
